You are invited to the Plains Art Museum Spring Gala!

Popeye and me at Gala auctionThis coming Saturday, May 7th, 2016, the Plains Art Museum is hosting its annual Spring Gala and Silent Art Auction. The 2016 Art Auction is fabulous and filled with great variety of work in a variety of mediums by a large group of artists.  This year I entered my bison piece, titled, Popeye, named after my dad, Johnny Benda. My dad was a member of the 1930 State Football Championship in North Dakota, earning the nickname of Popeye because he was a tough and determined lineman. This painting is a tribute to my dad, the NDSU Championship Football team, and the magnificent bison itself.  If you want to know more about the Gala and the Silent Art Auction, please go to: http://plainsart.org/exhibits/2016-spring-gala-art-auction/

August 2016: Update on Grassy Beaut: at the Bismarck solo art exhibit, this painting was purchased for the new Sanford Clinic in Minot.  Best wishes to the Sanford staff as they open their new clinic with our national mammal honored in their waiting room!

The Great Winter Crow Show

I love crows- they are smart, clever, and beautiful! My most recent painting involves creating some possible choices for entry in the Great Winter Crow Show, held every two years at the Spirit Room Gallery at 111 North Broadway in downtown Fargo.  I’ve been a part of this celebration for the past several years as a shared love of crows  brings artists together to share  poetry, literature, sculpture, paintings, drawings, and drama.  The show is up from March 3rd to April 15th, 2016. I created three crows and chose one of these for the Great Winter Crow Show of 2016.
